BIOGRAPHY AND ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Art is Caryn’s calling. After graduating from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, career highlights included art jobs in New York City, scenic painting for the National Ballet of Canada, founding watercolour workshops on the Bruce Peninsula, and teaching at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Marriage and motherhood brought about a tourism lodge in Temagami, Ontario, which promoted the arts. Despite the pulls between her artist’s drive, feminism, and business, Caryn always kept a studio practice.
Caryn’s figurative style raises more questions than answers. She works in watercolor, soft pastels, water-soluble crayons, and graphite. Substrates include topographic maps, pastel and watercolor papers.
Now living in Meaford and retired, she is happily painting and giving full allegiance to her calling. For purchases, commissions for portraits, equine soul paintings, and studio visits, contact the artist.
