BIOGRAPHY AND ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Graduating from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design led to art jobs in New York City, scenic painting for the National Ballet of Canada, founding watercolour workshops on the Bruce Peninsula, and teaching at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. Marriage and motherhood also bore a tourism lodge in Temagami, Ontario, which promoted the arts and environmental education.
Caryn’s recent paintings, drawings and sculptures search for playfulness in nudes, eccentricities in the garden, and drama in the environment. While she loves the sensuality of pastel and the flow of watercolour, she’s a real keener when it comes to salvaging curbside waste into sculpture.
After a nomadic life on a houseboat, and then a trailer with two cats and a mare, she has happily settled in Meaford.
