Like her art, Cindy Norton’s interests and experience are an eclectic collection. Her academic studies (BA Fine Art, MA Sociology of Art – University of Guelph) have enabled her to combine her interests in Visual Arts and Social Theory. Cindy Norton’s current art projects are an unusual collection of wires, gears, cams, rust, and vintage objects. She takes these familiar objects and places them in an unfamiliar/atypical context. Once fused together, her structures become surrealistic compositions. The turning of a crank provides movement within the piece and gives the viewer the unique opportunity to bring it to life. The motifs of these structures are often illogical, absurd and nonsensical …a bit like our world today.
